Urban waterways face complicated challenges as we move into the future, with a multitude of uses and needs: Infrastructure, Transportation, Ecology, Research and Commerce, all crossing paths under the looming powers of climate change.

I began this project as a deep dive research project – attempting to understand all of the conflicting and complementary activities on and around (impacting) the waterways of New York City. I have been working on this through mapping, interviews, conversations and cataloging.

Now, I am…

  • Working to put local knowledge into the varied conversations about the future of the waterways. What do we already know from lived experiences that might provide insight into the futures we are facing on the waterways.
  • Bringing together voices from across the many disciplines working on the waterways to influence and learn from one another.
