What am I doing?

Well, basically I am starting a new project. Or rather, continuing to foment a new project. I had an idea a little while ago that I wanted to start a “water institute” – a place where people could get together and share research and processes around the urban waterways.

Pretty broad right? So, I talked to some people. And I thought about it some more.

And I have this whole river boat dream going on.

And then I wrote about it. And I talked to more people.

And finally, it started to come together. I think. So I want to start collecting resources here and figure out more about what I am trying to do by, well, starting to do it.

IMG_20150410_145831So, basically this “water project” is going to be an artist run think tank located on the water. It will bring together diverse stakeholders from across a wide variety of disciplines and creatives to address some of the opportunities and challenges of our urban waterways by sharing practices and resources and through engaging one another and the public. (Maybe. It may all change along the way).

There are a lot of great people already working on the issues. And a lot of great artist projects already addressing this. So to start, I am going to collect a lot of that information and start to try to organize it.

Then I want to talk to a lot of those people. Collect conversations, interviews, etc., and share that too.

Then I’ll get a river boat.

And we’ll see what happens.

    1. Wally–

Thank you so much for the kind and generous offer, I hadn’t hear of the Global Water Center (this is all new for me!) but YES! I would love to be connected to them. I will send you an email so that you have my contact info. Thank you!

      1. Eve,
Thanks for following on Twitter. Please also connect on LinkedIN (https://www.linkedin.com/in/lkeaneaia/). I have ‘worked on’ rivers since my undergraduate thesis in architecture school. Now I work on green initiatives along the Milwaukee-Chicago corridor.

I have contacts for both the Milwaukee and Chicago Rivers. I am sure you know of Jean-Claude & Christo’s Colorado Project? Mary Miss’s work? Dr. Leah Barclay, River Listener? and others. Let’s connect via skype sometime.
Here is what I am beginning on the Chicago River currently in Chicago. (http://www.saic.edu/academics/departments/aiado/eco-design-riverworks-water-essential-life)
